The Hermitage and the neighbouring property The Meads were built in about 1915 as “country retreats”. The Hermitage has been home to many families over the years as well as a period as a bed and breakfast in the 1980s and 1990s. We purchased The Hermitage privately in 2014; it was last on the open market 25 years ago. It would benefit from some updating and could easily be extended or redeveloped making a stunning country home (plans for possible extension and redevelopment are available on request).
In addition to the main building, there are 3 further outbuildings; a wooden single garage, a stone built single garage/store with a lean-to shed and a new build workshop with a first floor area that currently has planning permission to be an office area.
The new building is built from SIPS (structural insulated panels) giving very high thermal performance. Combined with triple glazed windows, double glazed rooflights, 100mm underfloor insulation and underfloor heating throughout powered by an air source heat pump it is at near Passivhaus standard. The heated workshop has 2 insulated double entrance doors allowing parking for 2 vehicles or space for an excellent workshop. The upstairs is currently “blank” and could easily be made into a home office, studio or extra accommodation subject to the necessary permissions.
The other 2 outbuildings both have the footprint of a single garage, the stone built garage (in the NE corner of the plot) also having a boarded loft area.
